Recently blizzard has announced that the beta will be this year, hopefully this summer. If you don't beleive me just check the battle.net website and you can enter the pool to get a Beta key for Diablo 3 once they are announced and if blizzard likes your system specs.

The drop and/or item system in Diablo 3 is partially the same as it was in Diablo 2.
The main exception will be that the drops will only be able to be seen by yourself, and not the entire party/game like in previous games.

Personally I think this will be a good change once everyone gets used to it. It somewhat takes the epicness of the items away but I think it will still be fine because the epic loot will still be tradeable.

If you are anything like me, you will love this blog. I, Boot Danger, have been into Diablo since I was in middle school, I am now almost 23 and still have the game installed and played every ladder season.
